Shedeur Sanders’ home was reportedly broken into during his NFL debut on Sunday at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland.
During the Cleveland Browns’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens, a break-in occurred at Sanders’ house in a Cleveland suburb, sources told ESPN. According to Pro Football Talk, details are still being gathered, and it remains unclear whether anything was taken. No potential suspects have been identified.
The rookie made his NFL debut in the second half after starter Dillon Gabriel was placed in the concussion protocol.
Sanders entered the game as the Browns trailed the Ravens, but his first outing was a difficult one.
“I don’t think I played good,” he said after the 23–16 loss, per ESPN. “I don’t think I played good at all.”
He described his debut as “rough, overall,” but said stepping onto an NFL field for the first time also brought clarity.
“This is the first time I got hit since my last game at Colorado,” Sanders said. “Just having that feeling back is good… seeing what it’s actually like.”
Sanders also thanked fans for believing in him and shared words of support for Dillon Gabriel.
Sanders unfortunately joins a growing list of NFL players who have had their homes broken into during games. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce, and Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan have all experienced similar incidents.
