The visit comes after Wood's historic win at the Masters.

Tiger Woods will meet with President Donald Trump at the White House, according to sources who spoke to CBS News.

The seed for the meeting between Trump and the legendary golfer was planted a day after Woods' historic Masters win. Trump tweeted that he had spoken with Woods, and planned to present him with the Medal of Freedom. The civilian honor has only gone to two other golfers in the past: Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer. Accepting the award would place him in a trio of arguably the three greatest golfers of all time.

The award isn't Woods' only connection to Trump. The president is an avid golfer and owner of several golf courses. He played a round with Woods and former medal recipient Nicklaus earlier this year.

Woods' reported decision to attend the White House ceremony puts him at odds with several high-profile athletes who have declined the president's invitation. Steph Curry, LeBron James and members of the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots have all declined visits to the White House since Trump took office.
