For those of you who didn’t know, San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich and Cavs All-Star LeBron James have a special relationship. James has called Pop “the greatest coach of all time" on multiple occasions, and as a San Antonio native, I agree. Some rumors have even been circulating that the Cavs star might be thinking about moving to the Spurs.

So it’s no surprise that Pop publicly defended LeBron against the dubious comments made by Fox anchor Laura Ingraham that made headlines last week. “It was an unbelievable show of arrogance for a talking head to try to tell someone else if they can speak, what they can speak about...it’s just ludicrous,” the Spurs coach said in an interview. “He’s been a brilliant example for millions of kids. Especially kids with lesser opportunities. They see in this guy someone who has consistently exhibited excellence in the workplace and gives them a voice.”

Pop goes on to talk about what a great role model LeBron is. “It’s kind of like the Black Panther movie. How cool is that for kids to have that superhero? Well, LeBron’s been that for a long time...He’s very, very special,” he said. Awww.

Laura Ingraham attacked LeBron and fellow NBA player Kevin Durant during one of her segments after they made some comments against President Donald Trump during an interview. The anchor told the players, who are both frequent critics of Trump, to “shut up and dribble.” In response, James went online to defend himself by saying he was “more than an athlete," using the hashtag #wewillnotshutupanddribble. He also rocked a pair of custom “More Than An Athlete” sneakers before the NBA All-Star game to drive the point home.
