The New Orlean Pelicans may be in trouble. All-Star DeMarcus Cousins was injured during Friday's game against the Houston Rockets and was helped off the court by teammates. Cousins' non-contact injury was sustained to his left Achilles tendon in the fourth quarter after he attempted to rebound his own missed free throw.

Cousins landed hard on his left leg, hopped a few times, and fell over. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Cousins will miss the rest of the season.

Speaking to reporters following the game, Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry commented on the injury, saying, "We're scared about it." Gentry continued, "I feel horrible for him. Everything that he's done, and what he's tried to do for us this year and what he's made himself and the improvements in all areas that he's made on and off the court, has just been great. I don't want that to happen to a guy that's trying to better himself."

Cousins is scheduled to undergo an MRI scan, USA Todayreports sources as saying. He finished the game with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists. Cousins is set to become a free agent once off season rolls around and was most likely going to be offered a max contract, SB Nationreports.

The Pelicans won the home game against the Rockets. The final score was 115-113.
