Teammates Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham were in fashion lockstep with their arrival looks before the Tuesday, June 24 game against the Seattle Storm — despite normally having very different fashion styles.
During the Fever’s June 17 game against the Connecticut Sun, Clark, 23, was poked in the eye by the Sun’s Jacy Sheldon and shoved to the ground by Sheldon’s teammate, Marina Mabrey. At the end of the game, Cunningham, 28, was ejected after pushing Sheldon to the ground.
Fans then flooded Cunningham’s TikTok (“Sophie and Caitlin are the WNBA’s real-life Batman and Robin,” read one comment of many), where she gained 900,000 followers in eight days.
Before the ordeal, the women exhibited very different styles — with Cunningham often opting for an ab-baring look, and Clark more business-like in a blazer or trench coat.
But in the heat of summer (although less so in Seattle, where the game was played) after having each other’s backs on the court, the teammates entered in similar outfits. Both stars wore casual, arm-baring tops — Cunningham in a black tube top, Clark in a red tank — and finished their looks with flared jeans and matching heels.
“I’ve ran out of clothes at this point,” Cunningham quipped in the caption of her “gameday” TikTok post showing off her fit.
The Fever beat the Storm 94-86, with Clark scoring only six points. Her teammate, Aliyah Boston, however, scored a career-high 31 points, and Kelsey Mitchell hit five 3-pointers for a total of 26 points.
Second-year Clark went to the Fever as the No. 1 draft pick of 2024. Cunningham was traded to the team from the Phoenix Mercury right before the start of the current season. She and Clark have grown so close that they’ve earned the affectionate nickname “Tres Leches” with a third teammate, Lexie Hull.
