Tim Tebow is still clinging to his dream of playing Major League Baseball. After holding an open workout, he signed with the Mets in 2016.

His first season in the minor leagues was neither great nor terrible. He played with the St. Lucie Mets in the Class-A Advanced Florida State League. He hit .231, knocked out five home runs, and struck out 57 times in 216 at-bats.

Now, with the 2018 spring season starting up, Tebow is moving up a level. He'll compete on the Mets' Double-A affiliate, according to Mets beat writer Mike Puma.

Tebow started the year in the Mets' big-league camp and hit .056 (1-for-18) with 11 strikeouts. March 14, he was reassigned to minor-league camp. Twitter users were cynical of the Mets' decision to send the former NFL quarterback to Double-A.

Tebow played parts of five seasons in the NFL. He most recently suited up for the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad in 2015.
