The Rockets Reportedly Haven't Given Up on Acquiring LeBron

The Houston Rockets aren't considered one of the top four suitors for LeBron James, but they haven't given up on acquiring the king. They're "all in," according to a new report.

The Houston Rockets aren't considered one of the likeliest suitors for LeBron James. Bovada's latest odds position the Lakers (-155) as the favorite, followed by the Cavs (+200), Sixers (+550), and Celtics (+900). LeBron to L.A. or Cleveland seems inevitable, and a recent report stated Chris Paul believes LeBron is headed to Hollywood.

But the Rockets haven't given up on acquiring the King. They are "all in," according to a new report from USA Today's Sam Amick. This comes despite the fact that James Harden has said he doesn't plan on recruiting LeBron. "According to a person with knowledge of their situation, the Rockets are still all in on pursuing James—even if Harden made it clear that it was hardly a necessity," Amick reports.

Shortly after Golden State eliminated Houston from the Western Conference Finals, a report surfaced stating Paul was attempting to recruit his long-time pal LeBron to Houston. The Rockets are clearly on the verge of title contention—anyone who watched that WCF series knows that were it not for Paul's hamstring injury, things very well could have ended differently—and adding the world's best player to their roster is a no-brainer.

Houston will have some tough decisions to make, as Clint Capela and Trevor Ariza will also hit the market. Furthermore, Chris Paul himself is a free agent, and he reportedly has no intention of taking a hometown discount.

Bovada currently pegs Houston as the second-leading favorite (+550) to win the 2019 title, with Golden State (+135) naturally leading the pack.
