The NBA Live series continues incorporating the women's game into the video game. NBA Live 18 featured the inclusion of all 12 WNBA teams and their players, and the 2019 edition will allow players to create women characters. The Los Angeles Sparks' Candace Parker is the face of the announcement, which is using the hashtag #ShesInTheGame.
"The inclusion of female players is an important step toward leveling the playing field, providing gamers increased opportunities to express their unique individuality and create a reflection of themselves while competing in the game," EA Sports said in a release
Gamers will be able to scan their faces using the NBA Live Companion app and import them onto their customized player. They'll be able to use their create-a-player in "The One" mode, in which men and women can play on the same team.
NBA Live was released annually from 1994 to 2009 before a brief hiatus. The game returned in 2013 under the EA Tiburon developer. Joel Embiid will be the cover athlete of this year's game, which will be released Sept. 7 on PS4 and Xbox One.
