Two No. 13 seeds have knocked off No. 4s as, after Buffalo stunned Arizona Thursday night, Marshall came from behind to topple the heavily favored Wichita State Shockers Friday afternoon.
The Shockers, led by coach Gregg Marshall and smooth-shooting two guard Landry Shamet, went 25-8 and looked strong in American Athletic Conference play.
Wichita State led at halftime and for much of the second half, but the Thundering Herd (25-10) stormed back and iced the game with clutch defensive stops in the final minute. Wichita State hit only eight of its 29 three-point attempts, turned the ball over 15 times, and committed 18 fouls.
Jon Elmore hit four threes and scored 27 points to lead Marshall. With the few upsets that have already occurred in the first two days of the NCAA Tournament, many have found their brackets are already pretty busted.
