Both NBA conference finals series have been chippy. You expect that when the best of the best are playing at this time of the year. The Eastern Conference matchup between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers got extra physical in Game 2.
Afterward, Cavs coach Ty Lue—whose team had just lost, 107-94, to fall behind 0-2—accused the Celtics of "gooning," or playing a bit too physically, though he admitted his team has to "be tougher mentally and physically."
Some Celtics fans took exception to Lue's sentiment, considering J.R. Smith blatantly shoved Al Horford in the fourth quarter.
Marcus Morris, however, didn't hate the comment. Morris, who has played strong defense on LeBron James through two games, seemed to agree with it.
"Gooning? That's a good word," he said. "Shit, we're doing what it takes."
Jaylen Brown also seemed to be OK with the word.
The Cavs will look to make the series 2-1 when it continues in Cleveland Saturday at 8:30 p.m. EST.
