Jay Cutler Has Reportedly Agreed to Terms With the Miami Dolphins

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter is about as legitimate as it gets, and he’s reporting that Jay Cutler's deal with Miami is all but finalized.

It’s been a weird weekend for Jay Cutler news. First we heard he was headed to the Miami Dolphins to fill in for injured quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Then we heard the report was premature and he hadn’t decided what he wanted to do. And now, apparently, the deal is done.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter is about as legitimate as it gets, and he’s reporting that the deal is all but finalized.

NFL.com is also reporting the deal is finalized.

The highest-paid QB in the NFL, Derek Call, who recently inked his deal, makes $25 million a year. Twenty-two signal-callers make more than $10 million a year.

So, while the deal looks quite large at first blush, it’s typical for starting quarterbacks who are not still on rookie deals to make at least this much. Alex Smith makes $17 million a year; Sam Bradford makes $18 million.

Cutler had agreed to become an analyst for FOX Sports and was slated to make his debut during Titans-Bears Aug. 27, but clearly, he will not be in the booth this fall.
