It was no secret Dwayne Wade felt some real animosity toward the Miami Heat this summer. He had played for the Heat for 13 years and taken repeated pay cuts so they could contend for titles, and this summer—when it was finally his turn to get paid—Pat Riley and company low-balled him yet again.

As a result, Wade signed with his hometown Chicago Bulls. Wade still, however, has warm feelings for the fans in Miami. He expressed gratitude with a billboard reading “Thank You Miami” near the intersection of I-95 and I-395.

This probably has Heat fans all in their emotions. Wade had spent his entire career with Miami since the Heat took him in the first round of the 2003 draft.

He was a fan favorite for his unselfishness, ability to pull through in the clutch, and willingness to play through injury. Wade has remained present in South Florida this summer and has said it’s “still home and special to me.”

The Bulls will play at Miami Nov. 10. Expect a very loud and emotionally charged AmericanAirlines Arena.
