In April, UFC star Conor McGregor was arrested after he crashed a pre-fight press event in Brooklyn and caused mayhem. He faced as many as 12 criminal charges, including two felonies.
Per multiple reports, McGregor on Thursday pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. He'll avoid jail time, though he could have faced as many as seven years in prison. Instead, McGregor received community service (five days) and mandated anger-management treatment (1-3 days). He also has to compensate the bus company for the damage he caused.
McGregor will not have a criminal record as a result of this incident. The 30-year-old successfully worked out a plea deal with the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office.
"I just want to say I'm thankful to the D.A. and the judge for allowing me to move forward," McGregor told reporters after the hearing, outside the courthouse. "I want to say to my friends, my family, my fans—thank you for your support."
Three fighters involved in the attack—Ray Borg, Jason Ledbetter, and Michael Chiesa—received orders of protection.
The Brooklyn District Attorney's Office also issued a statement. "This is a fair resolution that holds the defendant accountable, ensures restitution for the victims and requires the defendant to perform community service where he can reflect on his conduct and give back to society," the office said.
