One of the more memorable performances in Will Smith's acting career for sneaker fans was on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, where he often wore OG Air Jordans on episodes of the '90s sitcom.
Around the 3-minute mark on the latest Sneaker Shopping episode, Smith pulled back the curtains on how he acquired the sneakers from Michael Jordan's signature line to wear on the classic show, including often getting pairs early.
"So what was happening was happening on Fresh Prince, Nike set up an office in LA that was strictly and only to get the new things to the, you know, actors," Smith said. "But it was really just me and Martin [Lawrence], so me and Martin were always battling for who was going to get it first, and usually our taping schedule was a little bit ahead of Martin's."
Later in the episode, Smith also revealed that his mother was friends with an unnamed Jordan designer during the '90s and was able to get his hands on whichever Air Jordans he desired, as seen in the Instagram post below.
"He was really diplomatic, and apparently, I wasn't the only person calling. He would always pretend I was getting stuff first," Smith said about the designer.
