Noah Lyles established himself as the fastest man in the world this past weekend when he won the gold medal in the 100-meter distance at the Paris Summer Olympics. Shortly after the event, the Olympic gold medalist had a message for his current footwear sponsor: Adidas.

In a press conference after the event, a reporter asked Lyles about how he envisions his future following his win. Lyles quickly stated that he wants his own sneaker.

"I want my own shoe," Lyles said. "I want my own trainer ... I want a sneaker. There ain't no money in spikes. There's money in sneakers."

On Sunday, Lyles finished the 100-meter race at 9.79, beating out Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson by just tenths of a second. The new Olympic champion raced in special Adidas Y-3 track spikes, as seen in the Instagram post and the images below.

Back in February, Lyles and Adidas confirmed they had agreed on a contract extension that would run until the end of the decade. The extension is said to be the richest deal for a track and field athlete since Usain Bolt's contract with Puma, but specific details on Lyle's Adidas deal weren't revealed.
