Nike has unveiled Project Amplify today, which is the brand's latest footwear innovation and designed to help athletes walk more effortlessly.

According to Nike, Project Amplify is not just a sneaker but a footwear system made to assist those wearing it to walk faster and further. This is all made possible by the motor-powered ankle attachment, which is connected to a separate running shoe that can be worn with or without the system. Nike states that this tech focuses on individuals moving between a 10- and 12-minute mile pace.

"Our job is to dream big while keeping athletes at the center," Michael Donaghu, VP of Create The Future, Emerging Sport, and Innovation, said. “Project Amplify started with a single question: What if we could find a way to help athletes move faster and farther with less energy and a lot more fun? At its core, Project Amplify is about seamlessly adding a little more power to your stride. The fun comes from realizing you can do more than you thought you could—whatever ‘more’ means to you."

Nike says that Project Amplify is currently in early development and plans to launch the system in the coming years. Check back soon for developments.
