Kenyan middle-distance runner Faith Kipyegon will attempt to be the first woman in history to run a sub-4-minute mile later this month via Nike's Breaking4 event in Paris. To commemorate the moment, the Swoosh plans to release a new sneaker collection shown here.
Kipyegon's upcoming Nike Running range includes the Pegasus 41, the Pegasus Plus, the Pegasus Premium, and the Alphafly 3. Each silhouette sports a predominantly purple color scheme and paired with purple, green, and pink accents throughout. The sneakers each come with a special Kipyegon-branded box that has a quote from the Kenyan athlete on the inside of the lid that reads, "I want to show the way when I get older. I want to hear the next generation talking about Faith saying, 'I want to be like Faith.'"
At the time of writing, release details for Kipyeon's "Breaking4" collection have not yet been announced by Nike. Kipyegon will attempt to break the 4-minute-mile barrier at the Stade Charléty stadium in Paris on June 26, which will be livestreamed on Nike's YouTube and Instagram accounts at 7:15 p.m. CEST.
UPDATE (06/14): Nike has announced that Kipyeon's "Breaking4" collection will arrive on June 20 at Nike.com and at select Nike Running stockists. In addition to the aforementioned running models included, this lineup also features a Victory 2 track spike (pictured above).
