'X-Men' Characters Come to Life on New Kith x Marvel x Asics Collab

This year marks the 60th anniversary since the creation of X-Men and to celebrate, Marvel Comics has tapped Kith and Asics to create a special sneaker project hitting shelves soon.

Shown here is the complete Marvel x Kith x Asics Gel-Lyte 3 "X-Men" collection that's launching in seven different colorways later this month. The iconic X-Men characters Beast, Cyclops, Gambit, Rogue, Storm, and Wolverine served as inspiration for each pair, with the latter character receiving two colorways. To give the collection the nostalgic feel of buying a pack of trading cards without knowing exactly what's inside, those who buy a pair of the collaborative Gel-Lyte 3s won't know which iteration of the shoe they're getting until they open the packaging.

According to Kith founder Ronnie Fieg, his history of collecting Marvel cards as a child served as the inspiration behind this project, so it makes sense that each pair of the aforementioned sneaker collab also includes a collectible Marvel trading card ranging from common to one-of-one rarity. The cards are feature the logos of both Kith and Marvel and come housed in special Kith x PSA co-branded slabs.

In addition to the sneakers, this Marvel and Kith project will include a special collection centered around matching apparel, accessories, and collectibles.

Readers will be able to get their hands on the Marvel x Kith x Asics Gel-Lyte 3 "X-Men" collab at San Diego Comic-Con from July 19 through 23 ahead of its official release on July 28 at Kith.com and at all Kith shops.
