Nike has unveiled a new PE version of the ever-popular Nike Mercurial cleats for French footballer Kylian Mbappé. Luckily, fans will also soon have the chance to grab a pair.
Per Nike, Mbappé's latest "Grand Purple" Mercurial colorway references design elements from five of his previous PEs dating back to '18. The boot features gold accents on the heel pulled from his first PE boot, while the lateral Swoosh references his '19 cleat, and the medial side is inspired by his '20 boot. Mbappé's initials are also stamped on the heel counter, while Zoom Air cushioning is applied to the underfoot.
"It’s pretty fun to see the legacy I have with Nike and the stories that we’ve made together," Mbappé said. "I have a special history with Mercurial, and on my new Player Edition you can see that long history through all the details from my previous boots."
The Superfly and Vapor versions of Mbappé's new Mercurial cleat will release in late April at Nike.com and at select retailers.
