Cody Rhodes Says All Wrestlers Should Be Chasing a Nike Deal

The WWE Universal Champion explains why in the latest episode of 'Sneaker Shopping.'

It's hard to imagine anything more rewarding as a professional athlete than having an endorsement deal with a sportswear brand. One person who agrees with that notion is the current WWE Undisputed Champion, Cody Rhodes.

On the latest episode of Complex's Sneaker Shopping, host Joe La Puma revisits the history of Rhodes releasing his own "Nightmare Family" sneaker back in 2018 and how that compares to getting his own endorsement deal with a brand.

At the 11-minute and 29-second mark, Rhodes says, "I think the holy grail for wrestlers is when they get sponsored, because it's so hard to get sponsored in wrestling. WWE, the doors used to be closed and you had to sponsor the whole show or whatever. Now you can get sponsors. With that in mind, I feel like, especially with the standard that Roman [Reigns] set, everyone should be chasing that Jordan deal."

Roman Reigns' Jordan partnership was unveiled before his match with Rhodes at Wrestlemania, earlier this year. Rhodes goes on to say that wrestlers in the WWE should try and acquire a sponsorship with a sportswear brand, specifically with Nike and Jordan Brand, given the global reach the wrestling company currently has. Rhodes also reveals which wrestler he believes should have their own signature shoe, and more, in the latest Sneaker Shopping episode.
