Classic Commercial: Nike's 1999 NBA Lockout Series

With the end of the NBA lockout nowhere in sight, today we bring you three classic Nike commercials from the last lockout.

So it's official, the first two weeks of the 2011-2012 NBA season have been cancelled. With both of the opposing sides seemingly not trying very hard to come to an agreement, it's unclear how much more of the season us fans will have to miss.

The NBA also had a lockout in the 1998-1999 season, which shortened the season to 50 games and cancelled the All Star game. One bright spot of the last lockout were these hilarious commercials by Nike featuring Samuel L. Jackson, Spike Lee, Jackie Chan and "Regina Miller". Although we don't get a look at any shoes during these commercials, they are still an important part of Nike's rich advertising history.

Who knows, if the lockout continues long enough, maybe we'll see some new "Start the Season" commercials produced by Nike.

(Similarly, search YouTube for the Sprite "Odd Jobs" lockout commercial featuring Grant Hill and Tim Duncan where you get a look at Duncan in the Nike Foampostie Pro.)
