If there was ever a basketball player deserving of the “master” moniker, it was Michael Jordan. His statistical numbers dwarf his contemporaries and his career achievements read like something out of a movie. Six championships in six trips to the Finals? Six Finals MVPs? Seven straight scoring titles? And a sneaker legacy so large that it’s still going strong some 15 years after retirement? Who does that?
Jordan had the perfect career. (Well…at least if we’re not counting Washington.) And while there were a number of reasons for that, none of it would’ve happened had Jordan not mastered the fundamentals of basketball. Those skills acted as the foundation so that whenever he did use his incredible athleticism, he became unstoppable.
During his final years in the NBA, Nike and Jordan Brand released a poster advertising the Air Jordan 12, complete with Jordan dribbling a basketball in hues of white and black, and small hits of gold. Written vertically down the side: “The Master.”
That poster actually inspired the latest retro release from Jordan, an Air Jordan 12 complete with a tumbled black-leather upper, gold-lace eyelets along the ankle, and hints of white throughout. It’s a beautiful take on a classic shoe that was known throughout the years for being one of the best performing on-court Jordans to date.
Mike wore the Jordan 12 during his fifth championship run in 1996–97, which included the famous “Flu Game” win over the Utah Jazz—one of the NBA’s most iconic moments.
This Saturday, head over to Champs Sports and cop the new “Master” Game Plan collection from Champs Sports. Also included is a black and gold colorway for the Jordan 1 Flight 3, as well as Jordan-branded T-shirts, shorts, and cap.
I know I can’t be the only one who had that “Master” poster up on my wall as a kid. Now take it back to your childhood with the Air Jordan 12 “Master” collection at Champs Sports.
Check out the Champs Sports store locator to find your nearest retailer and cop the collection today.

No need to spend time here. If you haven’t made up your mind on whether to cop the “Master” Jordan 12 or not, chances are you either aren’t that big of a Jordan fan after all or, more likely, you just haven’t seen them on feet. (They look amazing.) The Jordan 1 Flight 3 is a cheaper alternative for those looking to grab something but don’t have the cash flow for a true classic.
