While sneakerheads eagerly await more details on the 2015 Nike Mag releaseSole Collector has put together an informative guide on some of the lesser-known facts about the Back to the Future sneaker that should be enough to hold you over until we learn more.

For instance, did you know that Nike's been toiling away on the re-launch since October of 2005? Developer Tiffany Beers had this to say: "I was just having a one-on-one with Tinker, and I was new in the group. I was chatting with him about how the company works, and so on and so forth, and shortly after that he approached me and said 'Hey, do you want to work on a project?' I said, 'What is it?' and he told me, 'Let's remake this Back to the Future shoe. There're petitions and things, and people want this shoe.'"

Something else you might not have known is that the Mag was originally slated for a release during Back to the Future Part II's 20th anniversary in 2009. However, as we saw, the first re-release didn't actually happen until 2011, just two years shy of the milestone. "Our original launch was that we thought we could make the 20th anniversary. We didn't really formulate that into a few months into the project. But that didn't happen," Beers said.
