After Adidas' Futurecraft 4D sneakers took home a Fast Company Innovation By Design Award and were named one of Time's best inventions of 2017, the brand's winning ways continue as its automated SpeedFactory facility was honored with a German Innovation Award.

According to ISPO, the Adidas SpeedFactory won the German Innovation Prize 2018 in the Large Enterprises category. The facility was reportedly touted for its emphasis on networked production and innovation.

Adidas unveiled plans for its SpeedFactory concept in 2015 and introduced the pilot factory in 2016 in Ansbach, Germany. The robot-powered SpeedFactory aims to produce sneakers faster and more efficiently and has already resulted in a number of sneakers including the AM4 London, AM4 Paris, and an AM4 tied to the brand's 747 Warehouse All-Star Weekend event. More releases connected to NYC, Los Angeles, Shanghai, and Tokyo are expected to drop this year.

In addition to the Ansbach factory, Adidas also has opened a stateside SpeedFactory in Atlanta.
