Virgil Abloh's 'Athlete in Progress' Nike Collection Revealed

Shortly after being shown off by the man himself at Coachella a few weeks ago, detailed images of Virgil Abloh's latest Nike collaboration have surfaced.

With "The Ten" collection officially put to rest, Abloh's upcoming work with the Swoosh is on a much more unexpected silhouette, the Zoom Terra Kiger 5. The trail running shoe has been transformed by the Off-White designer with his signature deconstructed design language, trademark branding hits, and a set of colorful rubber track spikes added to the outsole.

Despite being spotted on Abloh, three colorways are reportedly going to release in women's sizing: "Black/Metallic Silver/White/Pink Blast," "Electric Green/Metallic Silver/Sail," and "White/Metallic Silver/Sail/Safety Orange." Each features a nylon upper, hairy suede overlays, and large Swooshes stamped on each side panel. Elements like the bright orange tab, "SHOELACES" printed on the laces, and a green zip tie also make a return.

While there is currently no word on an official release date for the Off-White x Nike Zoom Terra Kiger 5 collection, it would not be surprising to see the trio release alongside the collection of Off-White x Nike women's apparel collection slated to drop in Summer 2019. UPDATE (05/15): Nike has officially unveiled the Virgil Abloh's upcoming "Athlete in Progress" collection. The running-inspired lineup will include women's performance apparel, as well as three colorways of the designer's take on the Zoom Terra Kiger 5.

"I started talking with Nike about this women’s running project last summer and at the time, I was very much inspired by the aesthetic and style of track and field athletes. As a result, I invited some of Nike’s elite track and field champions to participate in my SS19 Off-White runway show as the natural forerunner to developing and showcasing the collection," Abloh said in an official press release.

The Off-White x Nike "Athlete in Progress" collection is slated to hit select retailers on June 27.
