Phil Knight's best-selling 2016 memoir Shoe Dog has been picked up by Netflix to be adapted into a film. The project will be headed by the Nike founder and veteran producer Frank Marshall who has worked on popular films like Indiana Jones and Back to the Future.

"I look forward to working with my friend, the great Frank Marshall, in bringing my story and the story of Nike to the screen. I have been gratified by the reception my book has received and think that we can explain my journey and the story of Nike to an even larger audience in collaboration with Netflix," said Knight in a press release.

Alongside Knight and Marshall, award-winning Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski are signed on to write the screenplay.

Having released in April 2016, Shoe Dog still remains atop the New York Times best sellers list and has been published in over 40 languages around the world. The memoir tells the 80-year old's personal account of how he was able to build Nike from a small undertaking where he sold shoes out of his trunk in Beaverton, Oregon to the multi-billion dollar sportswear giant that it has become today.

"We couldn’t be more excited to be making Shoe Dog with Phil Knight, one of the world’s business icons and a great storyteller. Phil created a brand and a company that became much more than the swoosh," said head of Netflix's film group Scott Stuber. "Through innovation, passion, and trial and error, Phil created something that became a part of our culture. We can't wait to share that with the world."

A release date for the Shoe Dog film has not been announced at this time. Those interested can purchase the original publication here.
