ESPN Films and Netflix have officially announced that they have partnered up to produce a documentary series centered around Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls during the 1990s.
The 10-part series titled The Last Dance will document MJ, his historic run leading the Chicago Bulls to six NBA titles throughout the 1990s, and the subsequent rise of the NBA because of him. The 30 for 30 production is directed by Jason Hehir who is also responsible for directing popular ESPN docs like The Fab Five, as well as HBO's recently successful production, Andre the Giant.
Over 500 hours of never-before-seen footage has been tapped and is included throughout the series along with interviews and insight from Jordan himself and other important figures related to the Chicago Bulls franchise and NBA in the '90s.
A look at the Jordan-narrated trailer gives a glimpse of what to expect from the multi-part documentary—Jordan celebrating his multiple championships, a behind the scenes look at his life during his legendary run, and, of course, the shoes.
The Last Dance will be premiere in 2019.
