Adidas and Song for the Mute have dropped a new collection, and it's available on Complex.
Founded in 2010 by Melvin Tayana and Lyna Ty, Song for the Mute has spent more than fifteen years building a reputation for narrative-driven design and deliberate fabric choices. Since partnering with Adidas in 2022, the label has quietly put together one of the more consistent and considered runs in the German sportswear giant's roster of fashion collaborators, even as louder names tend to grab more attention.
The Samba LX Freizeit gets dressed up in full leather uppers with a perforated toe box, landing somewhere between a dress shoe and a trainer. It comes in two colorways: black and brown. The Tokyo, an ultra-slim silhouette built from mesh and nylon, leans into gym-class energy and arrives in three colorways: sandy tan, electric blue, and black, each finished with creamy soles and contrasting suede stripes.
The apparel carries the same school-days logic. Two pre-distressed tees printed with a scribbly Adidas logo anchor the softer goods, joined by black gym shorts, baggy gray trousers, an oversized rugby-style polo, and two boxy full-zip jackets. The worn-in quality of the tees — faded colors, patches of discoloration — makes them feel like something pulled from the back of a locker rather than off a shelf.
