College is great. Let’s make that clear. Higher education is pretty awesome when you consider the new sense of freedom, girls, and parties.

But with every gift comes a curse, and there are a few nuisances when it comes to being a college sneakerhead. Between rushing around campus, getting acclimated to new settings, and trying to boost alcohol tolerance levels - there are a lot of things that can kill a student's sneaker game.

And for those who are wondering how college will affect their kicks, or all those feeling a bit nostalgic about the matter, we understand. If you can make it through these situations, then maybe you'll be able to wear your grails on graduation day. Until then, you’ve just got to push through and check out Why It Sucks To Be A Sneakerhead In College.

A lot of your collection has to stay home.

After you stuff your parents' cramped Honda with all of the stuff you'll need until the re-up during Thanksgiving break, there's not much room left for anything else. You could beg one of your parents to just stay home so you could fit another solid 6 pair in the backseat, but I doubt that would work. There's no way to avoid your mom crying in front of the residence village.

You're always broke.

By the time you get done spending "allowance" from your parents on books, er, Natty Lights and the Georgi vodka, you're going to be broke. And who has time to work during college?

Limited storage

If you're not an RA or have a single room, you're relegated to having roommates. After moving in, you realize just how little storage you've got. There's but so much room under your desk. Even if you agree with your roommate that you'll take the top bunk in exchange for the storage under the bottom bunk, it's still a struggle.

Being late for class because you're picking out sneakers.

White t-shirts and sweatpants are a saving grace in college, you've still gotta throw on some on some nice kicks with that basic outfit. The only problem is you've got 10 pairs to choose from and your class on the other side of campus starts in 5 minutes.

Can't camp out when you have class.

Back in high school you had no problem camping out and missing class because..well.. it was high school. But in college, when classes only meet twice a week, missing a class accounts for a decent amount of work. That night class/Saturday morning class is a real struggle.

Worrying about people stealing your sneakers.

You can drink with your boys and have girls over whenever you want when you're living in a dorm, but you've gotta be careful with who you let in your room. That open door policy you thought was awesome could turn into someone stealing your Grape Vs.

Hypebeasts on campus.

Those fellow sneakerheads on campus may turn out to be hypebeasts. It doesn't get much worse than a "so-called" enthusiast giving you a sideways look when you've got on a pair of New Balances or Asics, becasue he or she is wondering where your Js are.

Roommates wanting to borrow your sneakers.

If you're cool with your roommate, they might become a bit too close, and start trying to borrow your stuff. It might be okay when it's a hoodie or some dress clothes for that internship interview. But when they start wearing your sneakers, that's where the buck has to stop, bro. It's all good until the patent leather on your Space Jams is scratched.

Sneaker deliveries just aren't the same.

When you get that tracking number on a pair of sneakers you just ordered - you can't wait to get the "On truck for delivery" notification. The feeling you get when the delivery man drops off your package is great, but that experience doesn't really exist in college. When your kicks are finally on campus, it takes the mailroom forever and a day to let you know that it's available.

Those drunken nights.

Have you ever tried getting vomit out of the nylon upper of your Concord 11s? Exactly.

There's no one to talk sneakers with.

That first day of class we scope the class for girls and a quick glimpse of what heat we can find. Soon, you notice that everyone has on boat shoes and no one shares your interest of sneakers. Now, what will you talk to people about?

Harder to find people to sell sneakers to.

You're short on dough and you're willing to sell a pair of your kicks, but the only problem is you don't know anyone on campus who is willing to cop. Or if you do find someone, they try to lowball the crap out of you.

Finding new shopping spots.

When you're new to a school, you don't know your surroundings very well. Back home you had your mom-and-pop stores that always held you down with releases and had a decent selection. Good luck trying to find that when you go away to college, bruh.

Getting caught in the rain.

College campuses are huge. Walking from building to building is time consuming and if you get caught in the rain, your completely screwed. Who told you to put your back-to-back classes 15 minutes away from each other?
