Nike will release a women’s version of its retro Dunk Low sneaker this summer to mark the anniversary of Lisa Leslie becoming the first woman to dunk in a WNBA game, according to a document detailing the brand’s upcoming releases that was viewed by Complex. The Nike presentation does not explicitly mention a date for the shoe’s release but does note that it’s intended for the 20th anniversary of Leslie’s historic dunk, meaning it should arrive in July barring any setbacks due to supply chain issues.

Nike, which has not announced the shoe, declined to comment on the upcoming release.

Leslie, who played for the Los Angeles Sparks for the duration of her WNBA career, recorded the first dunk in the league’s history on July 30, 2002. In the same season she became the first WNBA player to reach 3,000 career points. Her Sparks team won its second-consecutive championship during that 2002 season.

The Nike Dunk Low style comes in Los Angeles Sparks colors of purple and gold, with a teal Swoosh and a white midsole. It also has Leslie’s number 9 on the heel. It’s possible that the shoe’s design will change ahead of its retail release, which is somewhat common.

The Nike presentation showing the upcoming Dunk Low does not make it clear whether Leslie will be involved in its release in an official capacity or if the shoe is merely inspired by her.
