Kendrick Lamar debuted his upcoming Nike Cortez collaboration on one of the bigger stages available in sports, wearing a pair for his halftime performance during Monday night's College Football Playoff championship game. Nike promoted Lamar's sneakers on social media, unveiling them on Instagram during the performance after posting a teaser on its SNKRS page in December.
The Kendrick Lamar x Nike Cortez Kenny 1, which has "DAMN" embroidery referencing Lamar's album of the same name across the profile , releases on Jan. 26 here. The shoe also mentions the album on the tongue.
While this is the only pair with a confirmed sneaker release date, a few different iterations of Lamar's Cortez shoes have surfaced. The rapper wore a "Don't Trip" version of the shoe, and before that there was a red and black pair that leaked.
