Penny Hardway has been outside of his prime for more than 10 years, and has been out of the league since 2008. However, his Nike signature sneaker line may be stronger than ever, with multiple colorways of the Air Penny 3 and Air 1/2 Cent making noise this year. It appears that 2011 will be an even bigger year for the Penny line, with the expected release of the Penny Foamposite and the return of the Air Max Penny I. Here’s a live look at the 2011 “Orlando” Penny I retro.
As you can see, the latest retro maintains most of the characteristics we've loved about the "Orlando" Penny throughout the years. A black nubuck base is paired with a white wing on the upper. Varsity royal hits branding and accent points throughout, including a marble Swoosh on the side. Perhaps everybody's favorite design element, the pinstriped tongue makes a return as well.
