The future of the NBA is bright and its most promising young talent was on full display during the 2023 Jordan Rising Stars Game earlier tonight.
NBA legends Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah, Jason Terry, and Deron Williams each led teams comprised of rookies, sophomores, and stars from the NBA G-League in a four-team tournament to crown a champion. Rookie of the Year frontrunners Paolo Banchero and Benedict Mathurin suited up for Team Pau; Franz Wagner and Alperen Sengun represented Team Deron; Evan Mobley and Josh Giddey played for Team Joakim; and Scoot Henderson and Mac McClung were some of the notable names for Team Jason.
In the final, Team Pau outlasted Team Joakim 25-20 after Jose Alvarado of the New Orleans Pelicans came up clutch with a three-point shot to seal the game. He scored 18 points between both games en route to MVP honors. Mathurin added 14 total points and Banchero scored 13.
