Earlier tonight, stars from the worlds of sports, music, and entertainment got NBA All-Star Weekend underway in Salt Lake City at the 2023 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.
Utah Jazz minority owner Dwyane Wade and Jazz team governor Ryan Smith served as captains, with the Antetokounmpo brothers and Lindsey Vonn coaching for Team Wade and Lisa Leslie, Fat Joe, and Alex Bregman leading the way for Team Ryan. Team Wade’s roster included 21 Savage, Hasan Minjah, Simu Liu, DK Metcalf, Arike Ogunbowale, and returning game MVP Alex Toussaint, which squared off against a Team Ryan squad consisting of Cordae, Diamond DeShields, Calvin Johnson, the Miz, Albert Pujols, and Ozuna among others.
In a surprisingly competitive game, Team Wade edged by Team Ryan 81-78 in the final seconds, as The Miz’s nearly miraculous half-court game-winner was called off because it didn’t beat the buzzer. Metcalf took home the game’s MVP honors with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocks.
