This week sees a true battle between old vs new, fashion vs function, Drake vs Meek Mill. Maybe not the last one, since everyone’s probably going to win with this week’s drop of sneakers. Jordan Brand leads off with two retro drops, one commemorating MJ’s 30,000 points and the return of the famous Flu Game 12s in remastered format. Adidas counter with two of their wildly successful NMD PK runners hitting on the same day. No matter what’s your flavor, you won’t have to wait for seven days to rendezvous with these fire drops.
Nike Air Jordan XII “Flu Game”
One of the most beloved colourways of the Air Jordan 12 returns this weekend in a completely remastered edition. The “Away” version of the Air Jordan 12, which is commonly referred to as the “Flu Game” AJ12s (due to MJ wearing them while simultaneously saving the Bulls and dying on the court), returns with high grade black tumbled leather offset with a varsity red toebox and midsole. Easily one of the most anticipated Jordan drops of the year, look for these to appear in both men's and GS sizing at every Jordan Brand retailer in Australia. They won't be on shelves for long though.

adidas Originals NMD Runner Primeknit (White/Blue/Red)
The shoe that continues to polarize opinions of sneaker collectors the world over, adidas stokes the fires by taking their all-white monochromatic NMD PK runner and sticking the OG red and blue midsole counters (or, more commonly known as, ‘those plastic things’) on it. There’s no point going through what the NMD is, it’s basically just a sock on Styrofoam. Even with a million fakes being pumped out, there’s absolutely no end in sight for the popularity and thirst for this silhouette. You may or may not be a fan of the shoe itself, but you simply can’t deny its extreme popularity in Australia.

Nike Air Jordan 17+ Retro (“Black/Gym Red/White”) “30,000 Points”
Another black/red Air Jordan releases this week, but one that is almost going to fly under the radar. Celebrating MJ reaching the 30,000 points mark in his storied career, this Air Jordan 17 is dressed in smooth black leather uppers, a textured heel and tasteful red highlights all over. Dropped onto a contrasting black and white midsole, these are much more subtle and understated than other 2016 Jordan releases but would have been an absolute killer if Nike packaged them up with a suitcase like the original 17s. One can only wish.

adidas Originals NMD City Sock PK (Black/White/Blue)
The Three Stripes caused a bit of a ruckus in Australia when they launched their “NMD Day” a month ago, with a multitude of NMD colourways being sent out the masses. One silhouette that caught the most attention was the City Sock NMD, which fused high-fashion footwear uppers with the now ubiquitous NMD Boost sole. Looking like ninja footwear, the most forward-thinking NMD yet returns with a black upper on a crispy white midsole. An almost monochromatic release, aside from a blue heel counter offsetting the simple colour palette, these will be highly sought after by NMD lovers around Australia. Better get in quick.
