This Weekend's Essential Sneaker Drops: Week Of March 19 2016

ASICS, New Balance, adidas, Air Max and Air Jordan hit shelves this week. What are you copping?

Diversity is the major key this week, where we see adidas and Nike go head-to-head with two huge packs. The Three Stripes come with their modern NMD Runner while the Swoosh goes neo-retro with a ladies-only Air Max City Pack. Capping it off on Saturday, ASICS, adidas and New Balance release stylish tonal kicks to suit every wardrobe.

And of course, there’s an Air Jordan in there. Obviously.

Adidas NMD Pack ‘NMD Day’

Well, looks like the Three Stripes have completely lost the ability to calm the fuck down and are readying a huge drop of NMD Runners on the 17th of March. Previously only available in a premium PrimeKnit upper, the stripped down runner will now launch with a regular circular knit upper on top of the now familiar Boost sole. Similar to their two previous big silhouettes (The ZX Flux and the UltraBoost), look for adidas to release a myriad of colourways over the next few months. The NMD now also comes in Women’s sizing (slimmer for the ladies) and a Chukka-styled boot, named the “City Sock”. Look for the midcut boot version to be the ones people will clamour for, especially with that glow in the dark upper.

Nike Air Jordan IV “Dunk From Above”

Part two in the “Dunk From Above” collection from Jordan Brand hits stores this weekend in the full size run; from Mens all the way down to Toddlers. When pictures surfaced last year of the collection, the AJ4 was the one that most collectors were looking forward to. With its colour palette lifted from a rare Player Exclusive, the Marqutte 4 (better known as Dwyane Wade’s Alma Mater), the upper is coated in a deep navy that features golden highlights and piping. This sits on top of a crispy white midsole, and finished off in a classic gum outsole. Look for these to clear shelves quickly as Jordan 4s remain one of the most popular sneaker silhouettes in history.

New Balance 577 Made In UK ‘English Tender Pack’

After the New Balance flipped the legendary Mint and C-Note 998 Concepts collaborations, the UK's Flimby factory gives the currency inspiration a spin. Utilising the popular 577 model, this two shoe pack sees tonal pairs in orange and teal, inspired by the British £5 and £10 notes. High quality suede and mesh uppers feature on both pairs, with contrast heel counters and white/grey midsoles. Understated and classy, look for these to drop this weekend.

Nike Air Max Ultra ‘Look Of The City Collection’ (Womens Only)

If you’re looking for something for your lady friends for the upcoming Air Max Day celebrations, look no further than the 2016 installment of Nike Sportswear’s “City Collection”. Taking all the current Ultra versions of the Air Max collection, Nike have crafted a five-model pack just for the ladies. Releasing one by one from the 16th of March, the series sees the Air Max 1, 90, BW, Thea and possibly the Zero all release in the days leading up to Air Max Day on the 26th of March. Reigning Champ has been crafting high-quality fashion essentials for nearly 10 years, guided by their defined principles of respecting details and mastering simplicity. Teaming with ASICS, the Canadian fashion house is set to release their athleisure collection globally this weekend. Taking the much-loved Gel Lyte III silhouette, RC have created three timeless and meticulous iterations of the classic runner. Draped in suede and mid-weight terry cloth, the three shoes (Navy, Black and Grey) feature tonal speckled midsoles, a tasteful white outsole and Reigning Champ debossed branding on the heels. With shades of A.P.C’s classic run with Nike on their tonal Air Max and Dunk series, this collection will appeal to everyone looking for a subtle upgrade in their footwear.

adidas Consortium Tubular Doom Primeknit “Special Forces”

Of all the new wave of silhouettes that adidas have unleashed on the world, the ultra-modern Tubular Doom is definitely one of the most unique. Already made famous by a collaboration with everyone’s favourite colour wheel, Ronnie Fieg, the Tubular Doom is instantly recognisable with a desert inspired high-cut Primeknit bootie/upper sitting on top of the futuristic Tubular sole. With all previous Tubular Doom releases (even the general release models) selling out nationwide, don’t expect there to be much chance of copping these online or instore without preparation.
