This is not a drill. Legally Blonde 3 is happening.

Earlier this week, rumors were swirling around about Reese Witherspoon being "near a deal" with MGM to star in another Legally Blonde film. Now, Witherspoon herself is confirming the news on Twitter.

"It’s true...#LegallyBlonde3," read her tweet, which was accompanied by an eight-second clip of Witherspoon floating on a blue mat in a pool while sporting a pink bikini. Legally Blonde fans may recognize this as a nod to her character's Harvard admission video where she dons a pink sequinned bikini in a jacuzzi and explains why the Ivy League school should admit her into their law school.

Now, 17 years after the 2001 original film, Witherspoon is set to take on the character of Elle Woods again to complete her story trilogy after the 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde. (Now, there was a spin-off film, Legally Blondes, which would technically be the third film, but it wasn't centered on Woods and it was kind of terrible so it doesn't count.)

As for Legally Blonde 3, Witherspoon won't be the only one returning. The original scriptwriters, Karen McCullah and Kirsten Smith, will also be back for the film. We wouldn't be surprised if Luke Wilson reprised his role as Emmett Richmond either since he started dating Woods in the original and married her at the end of the sequel.

Although it'll be some time before Legally Blonde 3 hits theaters, it'll give us plenty of time to get our bend and snap to perfection.
