Jimmy Kimmel Holds Back Tears in Gun Control Monologue: 'Children Are Being Murdered'

Jimmy Kimmel opened his late night show to talk about the harrowing school shooting that happened Wednesday in South Florida where seventeen people were killed, including teenagers.

In the monologue, Kimmel used Donald Trump's words against him. While the talk show host says that he agrees with Trump's notion that "no child, no teacher should ever be in danger in an American school" and that "no parent should ever have to fear for their sons and daughters when they kiss them goodbye in the morning," he said the president needs to do more.

And by more, he means for Trump to tell his "buddies" Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, and Marco Rubio to pass "real laws that do everything possible to keep assault rifles out of the hands of people who are going to shoot our kids." Kimmel also said that Trump needs to force the "allegedly Christian men and women who stuff their pockets with money from the NRA year after year after year" to get on board with gun control. And he needs to do it now, not later.

"Children are being murdered," he said, choking up and holding back tears. Kimmel also chastised the GOP for doing "worse than nothing" since they repealed a mandate that helped to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. Then, he noted that if an immigrant does something wrong, there's talk of building a wall, but the same doesn't go for gun control when children are killed. "Something has to be done, but we're not doing anything," he said.
