'Black Panther' Is Officially the Most Tweeted About Movie Ever

Black Panther broke another record: It's now the most tweeted about film of all time.

Entertainment Weekly reports that there have been a whopping 35 million tweets about the latest Marvel film, which tops the previous record-holders Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. This is likely due in large part to Black Twitter, a collective of influential black voices on the social media app who've been avid supporters of the film even before it was even released.

As for Black Panther, this is like icing on the cake—that is, if the cake is full of money. The film succeeded in having the highest February opening weekend ever, has already crossed the $1 billion mark, and is the first film since 2009's Avatar to reign at No. 1 in the box office for five straight weeks. If it continues, it will likely become the highest-grossing solo superhero film ever.

EW also revealed that the "most-used Black Panther-related hashtags are #BlackPanther, #WakandaForever, and #Wakanda" while the "most discussed characters" are Black Panther, Killmonger, and Shuri, who are played by Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, and Letitia Wright, respectively. As for the most retweeted tweet, the honor goes to Kendrick Lamar when he dropped the tracklist for the soundtrack he produced for the film. In second place, is a video of one kid on top of another in the classic trench coat disguise as they attempt to buy tickets to the film. And last but never the least, is forever FLOTUS Michelle Obama who congratulated the film for its success.
