Ryan Reynolds might be Channing Tatum's biggest fan.

Deadpool & Wolverine has already become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, after being released only a few weeks ago. In addition to uniting its two titular antiheroes, the film features a slew of cameo appearances, including Tatum who plays Gambit.

Fresh off the film's success, Reynolds shared his appreciation of Tatum’s portrayal of the gambling mutant in a lengthy Instagram post, endorsing the actor for the role of Gambit in future projects.

In his post, Reynolds acknowledged that Tatum’s been eager to play Gambit for a long time and called him perfect for the part.

"Gambit is a guy Chan was born to play," wrote Reynolds. "His story is similar to my road on Deadpool — in that Chan spent a decade trying to put the most comic-accurate version of Gambit on the big screen."

He continued, explaining just how connected Tatum is to the character.

"Remy LeBeau is grafted to his soul and needs to come out and deal," the actor wrote. "Some characters can only exist with a one-in-a-billion pairing, and this is it. Gambit found his author in Chan."

If you’re not convinced that Reynolds just gave Tatum one hell of an endorsement, in his closing sentiments he practically begs Marvel to give him a movie.

"He’s one of the greatest, hardest working, kindest people in this entire industry," he wrote. "I couldn’t be more thrilled to see @channingtatum pull Gambit from the dead and bring him to life at the perfect time and perfect way."

Tatum’s history with Gambit dates back to around 2006, when he was considered to play the heroic mutant in X-Men: The Last Stand. The character was eventually written out of the movie, and actor Taylor Kitsch plated the role in X-Men Origins in 2009.

Over the years, a Gambit movie was reportedly in development with multiple directors, but nothing materialized. In 2019, when Disney finalized its purchase of 20th Century Fox, the movie was officially canceled.

With the success of Deadpool and Wolverine and the popularity of Tatum’s cameo as Gambit, there’s a possibility that the character could get another shot at a solo movie—especially if Reynolds can lend a hand.

Late last month after the movie released, Tatum shared his own post of admiration about how Reynolds helped him bring Gambit to life, saying that he initially thought he "lost Gambit forever."

"But he fought for me and Gambit," Tatum continued. "I will owe him probably forever. Cause I’m not sure how I could ever do something that would be equal to what this has meant to me. I love ya buddy."
