O’Shea Jackson Jr., Ice Cube’s son, isn’t letting anyone diss his dad’s post-1990s movies.
Cube’s namesake came to his father’s defense on X when someone wrote to him, “No offense but why hasnt ur dad been in a good movie since the The 90s like straight garbage since The 90s.”
The message was a response to Jackson’s joke that if he were to appear in the latest rumored installment of his father’s Ride Along series, it would be “100 percent nepotism.”
Jackson responded by writing a lengthy post listing many of the films and franchises his father has been a part of in this millennium.
“I could just say the Jumpstreet films and end this,” wrote Jackson in response. “But All About the Benjamins not good? Fist Fight not good? Lottery Ticket not good? TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES NOT GOOD!?!”
“He been in FOUR franchises since the 2000’s began,” Jackson continued. “Barbershop- Trilogy. Are we done yet. The sequel aaand TV SHOW, Ride along - Trilogy, Jumpstreet (21/22).And added Two more Fridays so technically it’s 5!”
Jackson then admitted that, yes, Ice Cube’s 2025 War of the Worlds film was bashed by critics and fans alike, but that was no reason to discount his legacy.
“Don’t let some movie that they shot DURING THE PANDEMIC!!!!! IN HIS DAMN OFFICE WITH NOBODY AROUND HIM that a studio decided to still release 5….YEARS……LATER (for some reason) make you get hot in the ass to disrespect MY GUY,” wrote Jackson Jr.
Arguments over Ice Cube’s movies come, as mentioned, hot on the heels of his supposed return to the Ride Along franchise with Kevin Hart. Deadline reported on Apr. 10 that Ride Along 3 is an early development at Universal with Cube and Hart, plus director Tim Story and producer Will Packer, all in early discussions to come back.
In other Ice Cube news, the rapper and actor recently addressed the rumor of whether he’d be quitting acting because of how he gets cast in movies.
On Apr. 6, Ice Cube responded to a post from parody X account HoopsCrave that said, “Ice Cube says he’s done with Hollywood: They keep offering me the same angry Black man role.”
In his quick and simple response, Ice Cube put the rumor to rest, writing, “Stop lying.”
