Nick Cannon’s former accountant has been accused of stealing $2 million from the entertainer and fleeing the United States afterwards.
TMZ reports that Frank Musoke, a former account manager at a Beverly Hills management and tax firm, allegedly stole money from Cannon for years.
In an 8-count indictment filed by federal prosecutors, he’s alleged to have leveraged his position through managing the financial affairs of top celebrities. Though Cannon’s name isn't mentioned, TMZ’s sources say that he’s the victim being referred to. He’s reportedly been a client at the firm where Musoke worked for almost 20 years.
According to prosecutors, Musoke had control of his victim’s debit cards and PINs, which led them to withdraw $1.7 million from ATMs from December of 2019 to June of 2023. He allegedly spent more than $160,000 on purchases from Amazon, almost $192,000 on personal travel, and more than $160,000 in miscellaneous personal expenses.
Adding everything up, prosecutors allege that Musoke stole more than $2 million from Cannon.
Musoke was said to have been fired in July of 2023 by his firm after the missing money was discovered.
In the indictment, prosecutors also allege that he hid more than $1.7 million in allegedly stolen income on federal tax returns, which caused him to get hit with three tax evasion charges and five counts of wire fraud.
Musoke is believed to have fled to Uganda where he has dual citizenship. He’s currently facing 20 years in federal prison for each wire fraud charge if convicted, plus up to five years in prison for each count of tax invasion.
So far, Cannon has yet to speak publicly about the situation.
