Michael B. Jordan has named an anime classic as his favorite movie…of all time.
In a street interview directly after winning Best Actor at the 2026 Oscars ceremony, Jordan spoke with popular TikToker ThePeopleGallery and revealed that the 1997 Studio Ghibli classic, Princess Mononoke, is his favorite movie ever.
Jordan’s love for anime isn’t anything new — for years, he’s been telling everyone just how big of a fan that he is. The actor has been open in interviews and on social media how much he loves Naruto and other anime shows. In a 2023 interview with Polygon, Jordan explained how his favorite anime show influenced his starring role in Creed III.
“The fight between Creed and Damian had to be an even battle, and in an emotionally high place where these two men were both baring their souls to one another,” he said at the time. “The emotional level they were at, where they were coming at it from, the emotions between those two characters. That was the moment I leaned into with that scene from Naruto.
Elsewhere in the same interview, Jordan revealed that he watched anime every day, and used anime relationships from Dragon Ball Z, Fullmetal Alchemist, and My Hero Academia to shape his rivalry with actor Jonathan Major’s character, Damian.
Jordan is fresh off of winning Best Actor at the 2026 Oscars. When he took to the stage on Mar. 15 to accept his award for playing both Elijah “Smoke” Moore and Elias “Stack” Moore in Ryan Coogler’s vampire masterpiece Sinners, the actor gave a succinct speech that shouted out his parents, Warner Bros., and everyone involved in the movie.
Speaking directory to Coogler, who directed the film and he maintains a great working relationship with, Jordan called him “an amazing person” and friend. “Thank you everybody in this room, and everybody at home, for supporting me in my career,” he added.
After taking home his trophy, Jordan went to an In-N-Out burger to celebrate with a massive hunk of meat slapped between two buns.
