Keanu Reeves Set to Return for Fifth Installment of 'John Wick' Franchise

'John Wick: Chapter 4' wasn't the end of his story after all.

John Wick is officially returning for another movie.

Lionsgate Studios has announced that a fifth John Wick movie is in development with Keanu Reeves set to return as the titular assassin wreaking havoc in a world full of assassins.

Keep in mind, John Wick seemingly died in John Wick: Chapter 4, which many assumed to be his final outing. But after the film made $73.5 million in its opening weekend and an eventual $440 million at the worldwide box office, it seems like death won’t even stop El Baba Yaga from taking over the big screen.

The John Wick franchise has been extraordinarily successful ever since the first film in the series came out in 2014. Since then, the franchise has earned over $1 billion at the global box office.

Reeves previously joked that he didn’t know if he’d be able to handle filming another John Wick movie.

During an appearance on CBS Mornings last year, Reeves suggested that his knees wouldn’t be happy with him for filming another movie. "You can never say never, but my knees right now are saying, 'You can't do another John Wick,'" Reeves joked. "So my heart does, but I don't know if my knees can do it."

Before that, Reeves opened up about some of the physical challenges of playing Wick during a 10th-anniversary screening of the first film. The actor is alleged to have vomited during shoots.

"I had so many wonderful teachers and guidance and worked with so many talented actors, actresses and stunt people in the sense that it's such a dance and collaboration and cooperation," he said. "So there's a couple of times where you throw up or puke or whatever, but that's what makes it good!"

In other Reeves news, if you watch Severance, you may have thought you heard a familiar voice playing the role of the Lumon building in an employee instructional video. If you guessed Reeves, you were right. His cameo appearance was detailed by the show’s creator Dan Erickson in an interview earlier this year.

“We always wanted it to be somebody that people have certain associations with, but also, it had to be a very warm presence,” explained Erickson.
