This summer, Nintendo Switch 2 owners are set to get a chance to play two of the most legendary Final Fantasy games of all time — with special enhancements.
Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy X/@-2 HD Remaster will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on July 23, bringing the classics to a new generation of gamers, and those who want to experience the nostalgia.
The enhancements coming to the games have been revealed to be a high-speed mode that’s been highly requested, a toggle for random encounters, and additional quality of life features.
It’s important to note that although these features have been available on the PC version of the remaster, this will be the first time that they are available on console.
The HD remaster of both games originally arrived in the United States in 2014, featuring HD characters, monsters, and backgrounds.
In other new Nintendo Switch 2 news, Square Enix released a new Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer for the Nintendo Direct and revealed that the game would be arriving on the same day that it releases for all other consoles.
In the roughly minute-and-a-half trailer, series protagonist Sora can be seen battling a massive kaiju-sized heartless that would give Godzilla a run for its money.
Elsewhere in the trailer, glimpses of returning characters to the series, like Donald Duck, Goofy, Luxord, Strelitzia, and series antagonist Young Xehanort, can be seen in what appears to be the new setting for the game, Quadratum.
Though no release date was shown at the end of the trailer, the fact that we’re finally getting new footage from the game indicates that it’s a work in progress — even after all of these years.
Square Enix also announced a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, amongst other games, at the Direct.
