Former Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide star Devon Werkheiser has responded to the viral video that shows his former co-star, Tylor Chase, unhoused in Riverside, California.

Speaking to TMZ, Werkheiser explained how painful the situation is, calling it “heartbreaking.”

"Tylor was a sensitive, sweet, and kind kid. It is heartbreaking to see him this way,” Werkheiser said.

However, Werkheiser explained that Chase’s alleged history of addiction and mental health struggles makes it hard to offer support.

"I haven’t seen Tylor in almost 20 years since the show ended," the actor and musician said. "Anyone who has dealt with severe addiction and deep mental health issues knows it’s an unbelievably challenging situation if they don't want help."

Werkheiser also stated that giving Chase money wouldn’t solve the problem.

"It's an everyday uphill battle to course correct. It requires a ton of support and patience and time," he said.

"My only hope is that from this exposure, someone with real understanding and resources can step in, get Tylor into treatment, and help him get back on track,” Werkheiser continued. “We all want a happy ending."

Chase's living situation came to light when a video showed someone interacting with the former Nickelodeon star on the streets of Riverside, where he’s reportedly been residing.

According to the Riverside Police Department, officers interact with Chase at least once a week to offer treatment options, and he repeatedly declines them.

Mighty Ducks star Shaun Weiss said he has offered Chase a bed at a recovery facility in San Clemente, California.
