The Peppermint Club in Los Angeles can now brag about being the spot where Will Smith made his stand-up debut.
Wednesday night, during a Dave Chappelle-hosted surprise show spanning nearly four hours, Smith took the stage as part of his new Bucket List video series. As is often the case with these kinds of happenings, phones were gathered prior to showtime, so no footage of Smith is available just yet. Varietyreported extensively on the show, however, and noted that Smith's material covered a variety of topics including social media, home life, and family. "[Jaden] looked at me like I was the second-best rapper in the house!" he said of Jaden's post-"Icon" vibes.
John Mayer, LeBron James, Michelle Wolf, Katt Williams, Jon Stewart, and Michael Che were also in the house for the show. At one point, Smith returned to the stage for a musical performance of some sort. Presumably, we'll be seeing footage of all this in an upcoming video on Smith's blockbuster YouTube channel. On his Instagram earlier this week, Smith shared a photo of himself with LeBron and Chappelle in Vegas:
As reported last month, another Bucket List entry will focus on a Grand Canyon bungee jump. The special, titled Will Smith: The Jump, will be streamed live on Smith’s 50th birthday and serves as an awareness-raising campaign for Global Citizen. As part of the jump, Smith held a contest where Global Citizen donors (of $10 or more) are entered for a chance to join him at the Grand Canyon later this month.
