A new, and presumably excellent, Dune entry isn’t the only high-stakes project on the horizon for Timothée Chalamet.
The three-time Oscar-nominated actor, no doubt likely still residing in a state of constant stokedness thanks to the New York Knicks’ long-awaited return to championship glory, has made good on his recent tease of an impending new movie announcement.
Titled Not Alone, the film is an animated one that falls under the banner of Illumination, the same studio behind this year’s The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Minions & Monsters.
Below, as we are wont to do, we’ve broken down everything you need to know about the latest addition to Chalamet’s increasingly stacked filmography.
Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez lead Illumination’s Not Alone
On June 22, Illumination and Universal shared a poster for the animated title Not Alone, led by Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez. While plot details were not immediately detailed in tandem with the announcement, the film very much appeared to have at least a little something to do with extraterrestrial concerns.
This was quickly confirmed, with Universal reps telling Complex that Chalamet will voice a character by the name of Joe, described as an “introverted rocket mechanic.” Gomez, meanwhile, will voice a “brilliant astro-botanist” named Fran who is working on a plant-powered rocket.
An official synopsis finds Not Alone sounding quite rom-comy in tone, as Joe and Fran’s rocket collab leads to some romantic twists and turns. Meanwhile, a trio of aliens with designs on boarding the rocket in question seek temporary shelter at Joe’s house.
Timothée Chalamet and Selena Gomez-starring Not Alone to be released next year
Not Alone—helmed by Eric Guillon, Claire Dodgson, and Jonathan Del Val—is set to hit theaters on April 16 of next year.
Who else is involved with Not Alone?
Illumination and Universal’s initial announcement post on IG also saw the studios tagging Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso), Rob Brydon (The Trip), Diane Morgan (Mandy), and Jamie Demetriou (The Moment). Goldstein’s character is billed as a law enforcement official in pursuit of the aforementioned trio of aliens. The extraterrestrial beings themselves are voiced by Brydon, Morgan, and Demetriou.
