By now, you’ve almost certainly been exposed to the widely aggregated claim positing that Timothée Chalamet and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who both led Oscar-nominated A24 titles last year, are expected to star in a new Darren Aronofsky project for the studio.
But as it turns out, this would-be pairing, at least for now, is simply too good to be true.

Where did the rumor start?
Film-focused aggregation accounts on X were going wild for the rumor Wednesday morning (June 24), the bulk of them crediting a Patreon post from Daniel Richtman, whose self-described aim is to share “news, scoops, [and] stories” on the platform.
In short, the rumor posited that Chalamet and Johnson would potentially be starring together in the Aronofsky-helmed, A24-backed Breakthrough. The project itself, as those who frequent industry trades are likely aware, is almost certainly real. In June of last year, Deadline reported that Johnson was poised to play the charismatic but manipulative self-help guru at the center of the story, while Aronofsky was said to be circling the project with eyes on directing it. There was no mention of Chalamet.

Nothing. A source with knowledge of it confirmed with Complex on Wednesday (June 24), however, that the rumor is untrue.
