With its latest addition, T-Mobile is hoping to give consumers "all the entertainment you love, all in one place."

Wednesday, the company announced an overhaul of its Layer3 service, now known as TVision Home. Launching in multiple markets April 14, the upgraded version is being billed by T-Mobile bosses as a direct effort at becoming a competitor amongst the traditional cable market.

"The Un-carrier has already changed wireless for good… and today's news brings us one step closer to taking on Big Cable," CEO John Legere said in a statement Wednesday. "And with the New T-Mobile, we can do more than just offer home TV service … we can offer millions of Americans more choice and competition for TV and home broadband. I can't wait to begin un-cabling cable and giving millions the opportunity to cut the cord with Big Cable forever."

While noted by T-Mobile for its alternative status to the beleaguered existence of an old school cable subscriber, the plans themselves are packaged similarly to what you might find at a "Big Cable" brand. Plans include options for hundreds of channels and start at $90 per month.

T-Mobile's physical and online shops in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, Dallas-Forth Worth, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Washington D.C., and Longmont will offer TVision from April 14. Additional markets will roll out later this year.

As noted in multiple reports Wednesday, this is projected to be merely the company's first step toward competing in the market, with recent confirmed partnerships expected to produce additional announcements soon.
